Speakers: please upload your slides at the link provided in the "Presentation details" email, at least two days before your talk. We realize that a google account is needed to upload to that link. If you need support with this, please either DM Diana Dragomir on Slack or email exoplanets@unm.edu.
Slides format: we can only accommodate PowerPoint, Google Slides, or PDF. We cannot accommodate Keynote.
Timings
Invited talks: 25 minutes + 4 minutes questions + 1 minute transition
Contributed talks: 12 minutes + 2 minutes questions + 1 minute transition
The recommended poster size to fit onto all of the poster boards we have is A1 (so roughly 24'' x 36''). We can accommodate landscape or portrait orientations, but larger sizes may not fit. Posters can stay up throughout the duration of the workshop. Please upload posters at the link provided in the "Presentation details" email. This is optional, but if you do upload, we will post them on the workshop website later.
Poster Pops: if you wish to present your poster in 60-90 seconds during the Poster Pop session on Tuesday at 11:45am, please prepare one PDF slide and upload it at the link provided in the email. Make sure to have POP in the filename to distinguish it from your actual poster.
Hotel Parq Central - please email Yancy Sturgeon at ysturgeon at hotelparqcentral.com, mentioning the name of the workshop (“From Transits to Trends”).
Embassy Suites by Hilton Albuquerque - use this link to book.
Hilton Garden Inn Albuquerque Downtown - call Kari Bryan (their Director of Sales) at 1-505-808-1038 or email at Kari.Bryan at hilton.com. Mention the workshop and ask for the UNM rate.
SHUTTLE: We will provide a morning and afternoon shuttle service from/to the three hotels listed above.
Tuesday (Aug. 5): pickup at Embassy Suites at 7:40am; Hilton Garden Inn 7:45am; Hotel Parq Central 7:50am.
Wednesday to Friday (Aug. 6 - 8): pickup at Embassy Suites at 8:00am; Hilton Garden Inn 8:05am; Hotel Parq Central 8:10am.
Pickup at PAIS (the workshop venue) will be 15 minutes after the end of each day (so 5:15pm every day except Thursday, when it will be 1:15pm); same location as where you will get dropped off in the morning.
There will only be one round of the shuttle in each direction, so if you miss it, there are a few bus options (free), or you can walk, or Uber, depending on your comfort level.
PARKING: If you wish to drive and park on campus, you may park in the Cornell structure (red pin in the attached map below). The rates are a ridiculous $1.75 per half hour, with a maximum of $28 for 8 hours, but it is very close to the PAIS building.
Guidance for how to connect to wifi on UNM campus can be found at the link here.
Albuquerque is a desert climate and is at high altitude. During the summer and in the daylight hours, it can get quite hot and the sun can be quite strong. You should take steps to protect yourself (e.g. bring/purchase sunscreen and a hat), drink lots of water (more than you might otherwise think!), and take it easy with exercise (especially if you're not adjusted to high altitude).
